Cat Poker with the Evans Family

Some families play Cow Poker when they go on vacation. When Wayne Evans’ boys were growing up, they played Cat Poker.

It started with the binoculars Wayne always has in his truck. If he sees a Caterpillar when he’s out driving, he’ll stop and watch to see what it’s doing. “I just enjoy watching it work,” he says. “And if I can’t get out in traffic, I use the binoculars.

“When my sons were growing up, they knew all the excavators and dozers. So when we went on vacation, we would count them. My wife was always the leader, counting from home to wherever we went.”

Today Wayne is retired, but both of his sons work for Yancey Bros. Co.
